It was "2 for 1" day at the 4th Music Spectacular. Clark Terry called me the night before the show and said he was worriod he wouldn't make his flight connection in time for the 10:30am morning show. He was truely upset and thought he might bew able to hire a helicopter to get him from JFK airport to the LHS Football field but feared he would be late! Just in case he said he would call another artist and personally ask them to do the morning show. He suggested Wynton, Jon, Nancy Wilson, and Slide Hampton. I said send Slide! Slide arrived by limo at @9:00am and while we were discussing charts in walks Clarke Terry with a big smile on his face. Clarke asked Slide if he wanted to do the morning show and leave but Slide said he would stay for the whole festival we didn't mind. Music Spectacular 1991 ended up with two of the worlds most famous jazz musicians. Clarke and Slide were master clinicians.
